Robin van Persie is available to lead Manchester United's attack against Sunderland this weekend after coming through a training session.

The Red Devils striker was given an extended break following the Netherlands' run to the semifinals of the World Cup in Brazil and was not selected for last week's 2-1 defeat by Swansea in United's opening game of the Premier League season.

However, Van Persie, who only returned to training at the start of the month, revealed on Twitter that he is fit to face the Black Cats at the Stadium of Light on Sunday.

New signing Marcos Rojo also took part in his first training session since joining United from Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday.
