Over the weekend, the five-time FIFA Ballon d’Or winner netted a trademark free kick to bring his goal tally to 299 and later produced an out-of-this-world, choreographed penalty kick that sent tremors around the footballing realm, cheekily laying the ball off to help Luis Suarez complete his hat trick en route to Barcelona’s 6-1 rout of Celta Vigo.
By doing so, the Argentinian sacrificed scoring his 300th La Liga goal, but the wait to reach the landmark wasn’t going to last long at all.
The 28-year-old went on another one of his mazy runs and fired a low, left-footed shot to open the scoring against Sporting Gijon on Wednesday and to reach the milestone. Watch:
