DeAndre Yedlin looks set for Newcastle transfer

DeAndre Yedlin's new home appears to be Newcastle and the Championship. The American right back is in Newcastle taking a medical with the Magpies to finalize a £5 million deal, according to The Newcastle Chronicle, which has been confirmed by multiple reports.

Yedlin has been on the outs at Tottenham Hotspur seemingly ever since signing with them in 2014. He spent the remainder of that year on loan with the Seattle Sounders and by the summer of 2015, was sent on a season-long loan to Sunderland. He played well with the Black Cats and rejoined Spurs for preseason in July, where he tried to earn a spot in the team, but never quite broke through. That led to him looking for a new home and while Sunderland originally reportedly showed interest, they faded away.

In recent weeks, Aston Villa emerged as a potential destination. Then Newcastle joined the fray, making two recently relegated teams interested in the American. Now, the Magpies look like the winners for the right back.

Newcastle are looking for a right back with Daryl Janmaat set to join Watford. They've moved quickly in getting Yedlin as his replacement so it looks like the club rates him highly and are ready to put him straight into the team. That stands as a huge positive, even if it will mean a drop to the Championship for the American.
