Croatia’s Gabric injured in car crash

Doctors say Croatia midfielder Drago Gabric remains in a coma on
Tuesday after brain injuries he sustained in a car crash.

The crash happened on Monday on a rain-drenched highway near
Split on the Adriatic coast.

Doctors say Gabric, who plays for Ankaragucu in the Turkish
Super League on loan from Trabzonspor, sustained a fractured skull
and has been unconscious since he was transported to a hospital in
Split. A passenger in the car driven by Gabric suffered minor
injuries.

The 25-year-old Gabric has played five matches for Croatia since
2009, scoring once. He was in Croatia’s squad for the European
Championship qualifier against Georgia on June 3 in Split.

He is the son of former Croatian goalkeeper Tonci Gabric.
