City pair set to stay at Eastlands

Manchester City duo Emmanuel Adebayor and Shay Given will reportedly remain at Eastlands despite speculation linking them with moves away.

Speculation had suggested that former Arsenal striker Adebayor was a shock loan target of Tottenham after growing frustrated at his lack of opportunities under City boss Roberto Mancini this season.

The arrival of Mario Balotelli is thought to have added to the Togolese’s rumoured unrest among City’s billionaires, who he joined from the Gunners in the July of 2009.

But it is understood Adebayor has now agreed to stay at the club following talks with Roberto Mancini.

Given was also thought to want to leave after losing his position as number one to Joe Hart and was reported to be close to a reunion with Mark Hughes at Fulham.

But Mancini is said to have held discussions with the Republic of Ireland goalkeeper and persuaded him he too has a future at the club.
