Atlanta United are already scoring stunners out the gate in their first-ever match

Atlanta United haven't played in MLS yet, but expectations have already been pretty high for the club. They've signed a batch of young, exciting South American talent, not to mention former Argentina manager Tata Martino will be at the helm.

Well, their first-ever time on the field – a preseason match on Saturday – didn't do anything to quell the high expectations. In fact, the 4-0 win over Chattanooga FC probably just added more. Look at this stunning rocket from Yamil Asad:

Not only is that a great individual effort – with a shot from some 20 yards out finding the perfect spot in the upper far-post corner – it's also a great team goal. The one- and two-touch passing up the field will have fans salivating at the thought of how Atlanta United will look once they have some more time together.

As enticing as Saturday's performance was, fans should remember that it's tough for expansion teams to make the playoffs in MLS. It doesn't happen that often, and Martino, in particular, faces a big learning curve in dealing with the uniqueness of MLS, including its roster rules.

And look, Atlanta do have a really exciting roster. Miguel Almiron comes in as one of the most exciting young wingers in Argentina's league, along with Hector Villalba. Asad is another young Argentine who showed his stuff on Saturday. But the transition to MLS for players, including the long travel across time zones, can lead to unpredictable results.

Still, Atlanta's first-ever outing on Saturday merits some genuine excitement, even if it would be wise to keep it in check. MLS is ready for you, Atlanta.
