Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has given a positive update on the fitness of striker Eduardo da Silva and midfielder Tomas Rosicky.

Croatian ace Eduardo has been sidelined since February after suffering a horrific broken leg against Birmingham while Rosicky has not featured for the Gunners since limping off against Newcastle with a hamstring problem.

Wenger believes Czech midfielder Rosicky could return to action in September, while Eduardo could be available by November.

"The situation is positive for both players," said Wenger. "We believe Tomas could be available in September and Eduardo maybe in November.

"Also it was good for them to be back in this kind of atmosphere. The players enjoy a day like that."

Wenger praised his youngsters' display after defeating Huddersfield 2-1 on Wednesday night, telling Arsenal TV: "It was a very interesting game, a good test for the young players.

"It was a very even game. Huddersfield defended very well, were very organised and good on the counter attack.

"We had to be patient. Overall I'm pleased because that's approximately the level the reserve team should play each week."

Wenger has had to use his young players a lot in pre-season with many of his first-team stars beginning pre-season late after the European Championships.

The Gunners boss is now hoping the Amsterdam tournament this weekend, where Arsenal face Ajax and Sevilla, will enable his side to gel ahead of the new Premier League season.

"(Pre-season) is as good as it can be," he added. "Many players came back only on July 21 so it's reasonably good. We need still to sharpen up and we can do that at the Amsterdam Arena."
