The United States desperately needs points in their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Honduras (March 24, 10:30 p.m. ET on FS1) and Panama (March 28). They're dead last in the World Cup qualifying group after losing their first two matches of the round and need to start picking up wins if they want to make it to Russia.
Unfortunately for the U.S., Bruce Arena's hands are somewhat tied for these two matches, but especially the first one. Injuries and suspensions have taken a toll on the team.
Here is who is out:
The right back is suspended for the Americans' match against Honduras because of yellow card accumulation. Arena could have called him in to play against Panama, but the boss said that he didn't want to have Chandler travel all the way from Germany for just one match.

Tim Howard was the Americans' likely starter regardless, but Guzan was an option before he withdrew from the squad. He had a pretty good reason, though -- his wife is expected to give birth. (Early) congratulations, Brad!
The question with Johnson was whether he would play fullback or in the midfield. Arena doesn't have to make that choice anymore because Johnson picked up a hamstring injury while playing for Borussia Monchengladbach and was ruled out for the U.S. matches. Graham Zusi replaced him on the roster.

Jones is in the same boat as Chandler -- suspended due to yellow card accumulation. Arena has hinted that he sees Jones as a starter for the team, but he'll have to find someone else to beat Honduras. Jones will be back to play Panama.
Wood has been one of the Americans' best players for more than a year now and he's been in especially good form for Hamburg of late. The pairing of him and Jozy Altidore up front was going to be fearsome, but he suffered a back injury and had to withdraw.

Yedlin had been playing very well for Newcastle, but suffered a thigh injury that will likely keep him out until next month. As a result, the Americans' first choice right back is not available to Arena.
