RUMOR: PSG TO MAN UNITED || LIKELIHOOD: DESPERATE TIMES || So desperate are United to land a big-name player that they are supposedly ready to part with £50 million ($83.5million) for Cavani. That’s just the cash part. United are apparently willing to throw Nani into the bargain too. "My God, my God," that’s a lot of dough for a striker in the shadow of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but great if United can pull it off -- although we remain skeptical.

RUMOR: ATLETICO TO CHELSEA || LIKELIHOOD: CERTAINLY POSSIBLE || The way the press talk about this story you would think the ink had already dried on the contract. Costa is supposedly heading to Stamford Bridge in the summer for £50 million ($83.5million). "There’s only one name" on the lips of unhappy Jose Mourinho, who has made it clear he doesn’t rate any of his three strikers and will use the cash from the sales of Fernando Torres (good luck), Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o, a free agent in June, to sign the Brazil-born striker. The Blues also have the Thibaut Courtois bargaining chip.

RUMOR: LEAVING ARSENAL || LIKELIHOOD: NOTHING TO SUGGEST IT || One Sunday newspaper suggested Arsene Wenger has had enough of Giroud and plans to offload the French striker in the summer. "Tell me it ain’t so!" Giroud has had to lead the Gunners’ front line almost singlehandedly this season, a point made by Wenger in Monday’s press conference where he described him as a “fantastic team player.” In fact, pressed on whether Giroud remained part of his plans Wenger answered “yes.”

RUMOR: LEAVING BAYERN || LIKELIHOOD: NO || Here’s the presumption. Bayern bring Robert Lewandowski to Allianz Arena (and let’s not forget there was no transfer fee), therefore Mandzukic is leaving. That’s "a million light years" from what’s going through the heads of Bayern’s top brass -- and with good reason. Mandzukic has scored 24 goals this season, so why would they want to sell? The club’s sporting director Matthias Sammer said: “No one needs to come knocking on our door about Mandzukic. He is incredibly important to Bayern.”

RUMOR: LEAVING AJACCIO || LIKELIHOOD: NO || Mexico'S Ochoa has been linked with Liverpool in the past and his three-year contract with Ajaccio runs out in June. However, Ochoa is not interested in the Premier League and wants to stay in France. With Steve Mandanda thought to be leaving Marseille a the end of the season (some say for Arsenal), Ochoa has set his heart on OM. He said: “Of course I would like to go there. They’re a big team with great ambitions.” "As you can see," only France will do for Ochoa.

RUMOR: CHELSEA TO MAN CITY || LIKELIHOOD: UNLIKELY || The animosity shared between Jose Mourinho and Manuel Pellegrini makes this a non-starter. Manchester City reportedly want Blues striker Lukaku, who has been banging in the goals for Everton this season. Arsenal and Spurs are also in the running, but it "seems almost possible" that Chelsea would seel to one of their title rivals. Maybe Mourinho could give him a chance in the starting lineup.

RUMOR: CHELSEA TO INTER || LIKELIHOOD: MONEY WILL BE A BIG FACTOR || Inter president Erick Thohir recently said that Edin Dzeko, Bacary Sagna and Torres could be heading to the San Siro in summer but do we really believe that? General director Marco Fassone is also talking about Torres as a target. "Don’t you forget," Torres has two years left on his contract and there’s no way Inter can afford his wages and a transfer fee. Why would he want to move? If the Blues are prepared to take a hit on the transfer fee then a deal may be possible.

RUMOR: SEVILLA TO REAL MADRID || LIKELIHOOD: STAYING IN ADALUCIA || Rumors about Rakitic’s future just won’t go away. The 26-year-old Croatian is seen in some quarters as the perfect replacement for Xabi Alonso, although Liverpool and Atletico are also thought to be keen. However, Rakitic has long insisted, “I ain’t movin”, a sentiment echoed by Sevilla. The club’s sporting director recently revealed that he expects Rakitic to sign a new contract. “The deal is almost done and I’m not worried about interest from Atletico or Madrid.”

RUMOR: CHELSEA TO PSG || LIKELIHOOD: SHOULD BE GIVEN A CHANCE || Where did this rumor start? Look no further that the Senegalese himself, whose late goal eliminated PSG from the Champions League last week. He said: "Yes, I could really see myself at Paris, even if the new dimension of the club means they are looking more at international stars at 60 million euros than sure things at 10-15 million." "It’s been so long" that Ba was trusted with a regular starting role that we suspect Mourinho has forgotten his name. We think he deserves more time at Stamford Bridge, but will he get it?

RUMOR: RUBIN KAZAN TO ARSENAL || LIKELIHOOD: OUT OF THE BLUE || "The possibilities" of Azmoun moving to Arsenal come from quotes attributed to the “Iranian Messi.” However, it’s not just the Gunners that are interested in the 19-year-old forward. Azmoun told showNavad: "I have offers from three major clubs: Arsenal, AC Milan and Juventus. I also had an offer from Barcelona, but due to their transfer ban the club is out of the picture at the moment. The talks with both Milan and Arsenal are getting very serious. Both clubs have spoken to Kazan.” He looks lightweight to us -- perfect for Arsenal.
