Rumor: PSG to Arsenal Likelihood: Popular player Rabiot is a talented France U21 midfielder who will be out of contract in the summer. PSG are trying to tie him down to a long-term deal but because youngsters rarely get a chance to show what they can do at the Ligue 1 champions Rabiot may decide to run down his contract and make a quick getaway during the transfer window. The Gunners are said to be interested in a player that is also attracting admiring glances from Roma, Juventus and AC Milan.

Rumor: Dnipro to Inter Milan Likelihood: Liverpool should give up. Liverpool were furious in January when Dnipro pulled the plug on a deal for the Ukraine winger, but now it seems his club are willing to let him go. Inter Milan are now apparently ready to make a $30 million, leaving the Reds in the lurch. The Merseysiders should just let this one go and move on – maybe a new defender instead?

Rumor: Roma to Manchester United Likelihood: Same old… We’re getting dizzy with all this talk of Strootman joining United but the fact remains he still isn’t fit to play yet. The Roma midfielder’s transfer fee is now a mind-boggling £60 million ($98 million) – an astonishing sum for a defensive midfielder. Of course he’s barely worth half of that figure. If United really want him they’ll get him at an inflated price but let’s see him get some games under his belt first.

Rumor: Toronto FC to West Ham Likelihood: Other possibilities Defoe is thought to be unhappy at Toronto ever since Ryan Nelsen was sacked as coach at the end of August. Earlier this month Tim Leiweke said he thought Defoe would not return in January but we’re not so sure. West Ham boss Sam Allardyce is said to be keen to bring the former Tottenham forward back to Upton Park and Leicester are also interested. QPR remain favorites to sign him although Harry Redknapp has now been making moves to sign Stoke striker Peter Crouch. New Toronto coach Greg Vanney is optimistic Defoe will stay but we fear he’s heading back to England, probably with QPR if the Crouch deal falls through.

Rumor: Leaving Manchester United Likelihood: Next three months will tell We had a feeling that Mata would be the one to make way for Falcao during Sunday’s embarrassing defeat at Leicester and so it proved. Unless Van Persie is going to be dropped and Rooney pushed up front there is simply no room for Mata to play in his favored position of behind the front two. No-one is really talking about Mata leaving yet and he may get his chance after the defeat by the Foxes but of course United’s problems aren’t up front – it’s at the back where they’re struggling. Over to you LVG.

Rumor: Real Madrid to Liverpool Likelihood: Staying at Real Madrid Isco remains on the fringes of the Real Madrid despite his high-profile move from Malaga last summer. Sure, he gets the odd starting spot now and again and chips in with a few goals but the sheer number of high-quality midfielders at Bernabeu means that Isco’s main place in the team is on the bench. Liverpool and Arsenal were both linked with him last week but Ancelotti has come out to say Isco had a great season in 2013-14 and is the” future of the squad”. The Isco buzz might disappear for a while.

Rumor: Manchester City to Liverpool Likelihood: Just talk This is one of those classic paper rumors that have come about from two stories which make sense but which we take with a pinch of salt. England keeper Hart revealed last week that City have yet to approach him about a new deal, while Brendan Rodgers has told Simon Mignolet to become more aggressive. Ergo, the Reds could make a move for Hart. Liverpool, however, remain, interested in former Barcelons keeper Victor Valdes, who is a free agent.

Rumor: Barcelona to Juventus Likelihood: Certainly possible Pedro has been at Barca for his whole career but in recent weeks speculation has increased that he could be heading out of Camp Nou. The Spain forward has started the last three games and scored in Sunday’s rout at Levante but he will surely fall down the pecking order once Luis Suarez starts playing later this month. Juve have entered the fray in competition with Liverpool and Arsenal. The Reds are favorites should he decide to move, but Juve are starting to build something special.

Rumor: Dortmund to Liverpool Likelihood: We don’t think so Liverpool have been linked with arguably Dortmund’s best player which all came about because the Reds’ owner John W Henry mysteriously tweeted the words ‘Oh and sign Reus!’ on his account a few days ago. What did he mean? Who was he talking to? Was it a joke? It sure reads like one. Liverpool sure could do with a player of his stature but Reus will be heading elsewhere at the end of the season. Take your pick between Bayern, Real Madrid and Atletico. No way in hell is he moving to Anfield

Rumor: Real Madrid to Manchester United Likelihood: Hard to predict Van Gaal has now declared his hand and says he is interested in bringing Cristiano Ronaldo back to Manchester United. The Portugal international is also thought to be “fed up” with the club’s transfer policy and the high-profile exits of Angel di Maria and Xabi Alonso. Ronaldo reportedly turned down a return to United last season in favor of signing a new deal with Real Madrid, but he apparently struck a tax-free deal to play for Monaco when he reached the age of 30. That offer is now off the table which could pave the way for a move back to Old Trafford. We’re in the dark on this one but the signs are positive for United should they be prepared to pay silly money.
