RUMOR: Everton to Manchester United // LIKELIHOOD: Good luck! // Roberto Martinez was breathing a deep sigh of relief when Leighton Baines committed his future to Everton in the summer, but the Toffees boss could be set for another battle with Manchester United for his other fullback – Seamus Coleman. Although we think Coleman is good enough to play for United (who isn’t these days?) we think this one will end up the same way as the Baines saga, with Coleman staying at Goodison Park. Unless, of course, Moyes and United want to offer silly money again -- like they did with Marouane Fellaini.

RUMOR: Benfica to Liverpool // LIKELIHOOD: Seems expensive // Rodrigo has certainly been banging in the goals for Benfica, but he is about to become the latest big-money departure from the Portuguese club? Premier League scouts packed White Hart Lane last week to watch him in Europa League action only to find that the was on the bench. Jorge Jesus apparently said he is aware of Liverpool’s interest in his star striker, although the quotes we read were pretty vague. When asked specifically about the Reds, all he said was: “It’s normal. Every Benfica player is in a big window.” We didn’t read that as any kind of admission. We’ll leave it open for now – especially at £25 million.

RUMOR: Chelsea to Atletico Madrid // LIKELIHOOD: Warming up to the idea // Yes, we know we had this rumor last week, but it seems things have moved on since then. Torres is now open to the idea of joining Atletico and has expressed his admiration for Diego Simeone. Mourinho would get rid of Torres like a shot if he could get a decent price for him, but Chelsea paid stupid money on a long-term contract. The dreaming Chelsea fans would love to see players of the caliber of Edinson Cavani and Diego Costa at the Bridge, but those strikers won’t come cheap. And how much would the Blues get for Torres?

RUMOR: Arsenal to Napoli // LIKELIHOOD: Options available // Napoli boss Rafa Benitez is on the lookout for a capable center-back and believes Vermaelen is the man for the job. The Belgian is unhappy with his lack of playing time at Arsenal and is unsure whether he will sign a new contract. Maybe a move will give Vermaelen the kick inside he desperately needs to get his career back on track. Our view is that Vermaelen would be perfect for Manchester United. He even has a passing resemblance to Nemanja Vidic!

RUMOR: Barcelona to Arsenal // LIKELIHOOD: Interesting // Them heavy people at Arsenal are looking down in the dumps at the moment after their humiliating defeat at Chelsea and if the latest gossip is to be believed, Gunners goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny could be feeling a lot more depressed in the summer. The Pole recently said he would like to spend the rest of his career at the Emirates, but it seems as though Arsene Wenger isn’t too happy with his number one goalkeeper, so much so that he is thinking of dropping him for the clash with Swansea and replacing him with Lukasz Fabianski. Is Wenger planning a move for Valdes, who will be out of contract at Barcelona at the end of the season and has signaled his desire to leave the club? It’s a possibility, but Wenger won’t want to get involved in an auction.

RUMOR: Liverpool to Manchester City // LIKELIHOOD: Unlikely // What a turnaround it’s been for the career of Luis Suarez. Last summer the Uruguayan was looking for any excuse to leave Liverpool and now it’s hard to think of a reason he would want to play anywhere else. Suarez is the runaway leading goalscorer in the Premier League and it looks like his efforts will secure the Reds’ place in next season’s Champions League. One paper reckons Suarez is Manchester City’s number one target for the 2014-15 campaign and are preparing a cloudbusting bid. Forget it.

RUMOR: Sporting Lisbon to Manchester United // LIKELIHOOD: Is it a done deal? // According to the latest gossip, Carvalho’s move to Manchester United is already a done deal. United are prepared to meet the £37 million ($61 million) get-out clause for the 21-year-old defensive midfielder in the summer. One paper believes Manchester City are threatening to scupper the whole enterprise, but we don’t buy it and fully expect Carvalho to be moving to Old Trafford.
RUMOR: QPR to Tottenham // LIKELIHOOD: Could move to another part of London // QPR striker Remy, who has been tearing up the Premier League on loan at Newcastle, is thought to be a target for Tottenham, but north London rivals Arsenal are supposedly a preferred destination for the Frenchman. A source close to the player (for that read: agent) says if Arsenal want him “that’s where he will go.” Will the Gunners blow away their rivals and land the pace they need up top? We say go for it.

RUMOR: Real Madrid to Man United // LIKELIHOOD: Price looks nice // Manchester United’s troubles in defense are obvious. Nemanja Vidic is leaving, Rio Ferdinand’s legs have gone, Chris Smalling isn’t a right-back, Rafael is a liability and Patrice Evra seems to be on his way. On the left-back front United have been linked with Southampton prodigy Luke Shaw, who has a £30 million ($50 million) price tag. Is there a cheaper option? According to reports Fabio Coentrao, who is way behind Marcelo at Real Madrid, is available at a third of the price. Real Madrid are reaching out to United to secure a deal. Looks good value to us.

RUMOR: Manchester City to Barcelona // LIKELIHOOD: Nope // Wow, The Sun reckons Kun is the top summer target for Barcelona. The story is that Barca will fight it out with Real Madrid for his signature, with his Argentine buddy Lionel Messi viewed as a crucial component in persuading him to move to Camp Nou. City boss Manuel Pellegrini takes a deep breath when he hears these sorts of rumors and dismisses them like the true pro he is. One question though. Where would a potential move for Aguero leave the increasingly disappointing Neymar?
