Rumor: Unemployed to Manchester United Likelihood: Looking nailed on The Talk: Valdes has been training with Manchester United in a bid to regain his fitness following a cruciate ligament injury. Many expected that the former Barcelona goalkeeper would have signed a deal with United by now and the explanation why that hasn’t happened is becoming clearer. Valdes had agreed to join Monaco on a big salary before he became injured and has been involved in a legal wrangle over compensation ever since. It looks like Monaco will pay a percentage of his salary if he joins United although we still don’t know why United would take the risk when they have Lindegaard in reserve. Keepers eh?

Rumor: Liverpool to Roma Likelihood: Depends on another deal The Talk: Johnson featured in last week’s edition and the Liverpool defender has made it into the top 10 again. The 30-year-old right-back, out of contract at the end of the season, is persistently linked with a move and yet there he is in the Reds’ starting line-up every week. Roma are thought to be thinking about signing him in January but we think he’ll stick around until the summer when Liverpool may have another right-back in their ranks.

Rumor: Barcelona to Liverpool Likelihood: Competition for his signature The Talk: Montoya's agent has made it clear that his client will leave Barcelona in January which begs the questions: Where is he going to? Brendan Rodgers is thought to have been monitoring the 23-year-old right-back for a year although what he's been monitoring is anyone's guess because Montoya has made just a handful of appearances in 12 months. His agent says clubs in Germany, Italy and England are "pulling strings to sign him." The clock is ticking.

Rumor: Liverpool to Inter Milan Likelihood: Italians face losing battle The Talk: Inter Milan are the latest club to be linked with a move for Lucas, who is also thought to be a target for former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez at Napoli. Although Lucas lost his place in the starting line-up last season, the Brazil midfielder he has been a regular ever since Liverpool lost 3-1 at Crystal Palace. Are we alone in thinking that it isn’t a coincidence that Liverpool are on a four-match unbeaten run? Rodgers isn’t talking about a move and we think he’ll stay.

Rumor: LA Galaxy to QPR Likelihood: Can he cut it? The Talk: No sooner had Robbie Keane scored the Galaxy's MLS Cup winner against the Revs then QPR boss Harry Redknapp expressed his interest in signing the Ireland international on loan in January. He said: "He would be the ideal type to have around because he would give us something. I haven’t spoken to him yet but he would be an interesting player." Redknapp signed Keane for Tottenham five years ago and we feel the two could be reunited again.

Rumor: Unemployed to Houston Dynamo Likelihood: Signs are good The Talk: Former Burnley, Bolton and Wigan boss Coyle is the front runner to take over at Dynamo. Reading between the lines it's more of case whether Houston want Coyle rather than the other way round. Coyle was in Houston on Friday to discuss the potential move, and said: "Hopefully, fingers crossed, they feel I’m the right man for the job." Dynamo president Chris Canetti admitted they are close to making an announcement. Coyle should be fine.

Rumor: Tottenham to Liverpool Likelihood: Possible The Talk: Vertonghen's future at Tottenham is looking increasingly uncertain and a move to Liverpool could be on the cards. The Belgian, out of contract in the summer, has hinted he will not sign a new deal which has put the Merseysiders on red alert. Tottenham could use the money they make from the January sale to fund a move for Napoli defender Raul Albiol. It doesn’t look good for Dejan Lovren – and possibly the man who bought him!

Rumor: Arsenal to Atletico Madrid Likelihood: Really? The Talk: Cazorla has been linked with a return to Spain and La Liga champions Atletico Madrid are ahead of two other clubs in the race to sign him. The former Malaga midfielder may not be prolific but he always seems to be on the team sheet. However, Wenger is said to be open to selling Cazorla, who has 18 months left on his contract. We’re not so sure about that. We don’t necessarily think he’s a player that is good for Arenal but we don’t think he’s a player that Wenger will be telling: It’s over.

Rumor: Zenit St Petersburg to Liverpool Likelihood: We don’t buy it The Talk: Brendan Rodgers is under increasing scrutiny with every game and a 0-0 draw at home to Sunderland won’t have silenced the doubters that are becoming more vocal with every game. The Reds have apparently approached AVB to disclose details of his coaching methods (like he’d tell them!) They seem to be working well enough with Zenit St Petersburg sitting pretty at the top of the Russian table. However, failure at Chelsea and Tottenham makes this a no no for us.
Rumor: Leaving Liverpool Likelihood: Time’s up The Talk: The Premier League only has about six more months of the crazy Mario Balotelli if the papers are to be believed from the weekend. Even before the Italy striker was charged for his Super Mario Instagram post it seems Rodgers has made his mind up that the former Manchester City striker just isn’t cutting the mustard at Anfield. He may still be around in January but it’s likely we’ll be saying 'arrivederci' in summer.
