Rumor: Chelsea to Inter Milan. // Likelihood: Underwhelming season. // The talk: Cuadrado has hardly set the world on fire at Chelsea following his move from Fiorentina. Inter Milan are hoping to bring him back to Serie A, according to Tuttosport, but only on a loan deal. That’s because the math would not be in their favor as the Colombian has a lucrative long-term contract. We’ll see.

Morgan Schneiderlin, Midfielder, Southampton
Rumor: Southampton to Manchester United. //Likelihood: Certainly possible. // The talk: Schneiderlin was one of the few to stay at Southampton during last summer’s exodus but judging by the French midfielder’s recent sentiments he is determined not to miss the boat this time and has made a Champions League team from the Premier League his priority. Tottenham can now be ruled out which leaves Arsenal and Manchester United to fight it out. Van Gaal would be happy to have him and $38 million should do the trick.

Toby Alderweireld, Defender, Atletico Madrid
Rumor: Atletico Madrid to Chelsea. // Likelihood: Had a good campaign. // The talk: The Belgium defender enjoyed a great loan spell at Southampton, who have an option to buy for $10.63 million but his price may have gone up and bigger clubs could be looking to snap him up. Alderweireld is a versatile player and with Chelsea about to lose Filipe Luis the race is on to find a replacement. So is Alderweireld the man? Why not.

Arturo Vidal, Midfielder, Juventus
Rumor: Juventus to Real Madrid. // Likelihood: Interesting// The talk: Benitez is no dreamer and is apparently intent on strengthening Real Madrid’s midfield once he gets his feet under the table. Two names have been mentioned -- Vidal and Marco Verratti. Tuttosport say Juve are prepared to sell Vidal for $43.6 million and with the potential arrival of Sami Khedira in Turin that could happen. Arsenal are also thought to be in the frame for the Chilean. Sparks could fly with this one.

Marco Verratti, Midfielder, Paris Saint-Germain
Rumor: PSG to Real Madrid. // Likelihood: Not out of the question. // The talk: Another player linked with shoring up Real Madrid’s midfield is Verratti, whose steely presence and brave heart helped PSG win Ligue 1 for the third year in a row. He’steh kind of player Benitez likes and it could be a toss-up between him and Vidal, but neither player will come cheaply -- not that money is a problem at the Bernabeu.

Gonzalo Higuain, Forward, Napoli
Rumor: Napoli to Manchester United. // Likelihood: Possible. // The talk: Robin van Persie’s future is up in the air at Manchester United and rumors are suggesting he could be on his way to Juventus. Van Gaal was thought to be interested in Higuain and that speculation will only increase after Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri revealed United had made contact about Higuain. Don’t expect anyone at United to come clean, though.

Raheem Sterling, Winger/Forward, Liverpool
Rumor: Liverpool to Bayern Munich. // Likelihood: No chance. // The talk: The Liverpool forward’s agent is on a mission to make his client the most unpopular player in Europe and he is doing a sterling job (sorry about that). Aidy Ward apparently met with Bayern Munich but it was mutually agreed that a move to the Bundesliga was not right for either party. In other words, Bayern threw them out when they found out how much they wanted. There is a one in a million chance Sterling will join Bayern. Could Sterling be reunited with Rafa Benitez at Real Madrid?

Diego Costa, Forward, Chelsea
Rumor: Chelsea to Atletico Madrid. // Likelihood: Not buying it. // The talk: Do journalists think players are 13 years old? Marca is running a weird story about Costa, claiming that the Chelsea striker doesn’t like the food, the climate or the language in England and wants to rejoin Atletico Madrid. Really? This is almost as bad as the scandalous Yaya Toure-birthday cake tale. At least that was true. This one is just silly.

Radamel Falcao, Forward, Monaco
Rumor: Monaco to Chelsea. // Likelihood: Another injured striker?// The talk: So desperate is Falcao to join Chelsea that he is apparently prepared to take a pay cut to join the Premier League champions. But is the feeling mutual? The Blues already have issues with Diego Costa’s hamstring so would they want to sign a player that clearly hasn’t recovered from the ACL injury that forced him to miss the World Cup? Mourinho won’t want to get burned like United.

Paul Pogba, Midfielder, Juventus
Rumor: Juventus to Chelsea. // Likelihood: Hot air.// The talk: It’s another round of the Rumor Mill which means an obligatory mention of Pogba. The Daily Express, no stranger to sensationalist nonsense and unreliable stories, says that Chelsea are preparing to make a $87 million offer for the France midfielder. Oh, and then Oscar will join the Serie A champions in return. To be fair to the Express, they have cited La Stampa for this story -- except the story is nowhere to be found on their website. Let’s breathe in. breathe out and move on, shall we?
