RUMOR: MONCHENGLADBACH TO BARCELONA // LIKELIHOOD: NAILED ON Ter Stegen has finally come clean and admitted he will be leaving the club in the summer, and the Foals’ director of sport, Max Eberl, believes the goalkeeper will start a new life abroad. For the Rumor Mill team that opinion points in only one direction – Barcelona. Victor Valdes is leaving Camp Nou at the end of the season and Ter Stegen looks like the man to replace him.

RUMOR: LEAVING BARCELONA // LIKELIHOOD: UNCERTAIN Alves is thought to be deemed surplus to requirements at Barcelona but the fact remains he is still first-choice right-back at Camp Nou. Has the end come too soon for the Brazilian? We’re not so sure, but Arsenal could be in the market for a man in his position if contract negotiations don’t go well with Bacary Sagna. Manchester United, City and Chelsea have also been linked with the player, and there is bound to be interest from Europe.

RUMOR: MANCHESTER UNITED TO JUVENTUS // LIKELIHOOD: NOT CONVINCED It’s a dog’s life for the Dutchman at Old Trafford these days. Van Persie cuts a frustrated figure despite David Moyes expressing the opposite sentiment. Most of the papers expect the former Arsenal striker to leave Old Trafford amid speculation Juventus are interested in signing him. Interestingly, the bookmakers still believe he is bound for a return to Emirates Stadium, although Chelsea, Bayern and PSG are also in the frame.

RUMOR: SOUTHAMPTON TO MANCHESTER UNITED // LIKELIHOOD: WILL COST UNITED BIG BUCKS After years of promise Lallana has finally come of age. The Saints midfielder, 25, is almost certain to be heading to the World Cup with England this summer and David Moyes reportedly wants him to bring creativity and energy to United’s flagging midfield. The Red Devils will have to reach a bit further into their pockets if they are to sign Lallana and Saints defender Luke Shaw. United are prepared to offer £30 million ($50 million) but Southampton will push for £40 million ($66.6 million).

RUMOR: MANCHESTER UNITED TO INTER MILAN // LIKELIHOOD: TIME IS UP FOR LITTLE PEA When Chicharito first arrived at Old Trafford it was a case of Boom! But things have soured since those halcyon days and now, sadly, the situation looks more like doom for the Mexican. One story that emerged from the weekend was that Hernandez could join United teammate Nemanja Vidic at Inter Milan. The Serie A giants have supposedly already approached his father, who acts as his agent. Current thinking is that Juve are prepared to pay £12 million ($20 million), but United want closer to £15 million ($25 million).

RUMOR: ARSENAL TO MANCHESTER UNITED // LIKELIHOOD: GREAT DEAL IF UNITED CAN DO IT The race is on to find a replacement for Nemanja Vidic, who will join Inter Milan in the summer. United have been linked with Porto’s Eliaquim Mangala, Roma’s Mehdi Benatia and Cagliari’s Davide Astori – players unproven in the Premier League, and we can now add one more name to that list – Arsenal’s Thomas Vermaelen, who is finding it tough to dislodge Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker in the Gunners’ back line. Wenger would rather sleep on a bed of nails than sell another of his players to a rival.

RUMOR: ATLETICO TO ARSENAL // LIKELIHOOD: SEEMS UNLIKELY When it comes to expressing a simple, beautiful truth Turan’s agent really isn’t up the task as he proved when responding to questions about the future of the Atletico Madrid winger. He said: "He is interested in working under Arsene Wenger and Arda would like to play in England. “ Hmm, sounds promising for the Gunners. In the next breath he adds: "Arda will not leave Atletico. They are part of the title race and he is a key player. Arda plays for a big club and he will be part of Atletico's success.” Hmm, sounds unpromising. We’ll pass on this one.

RUMOR: LEAVING MANCHESTER CITY // LIKELIHOOD: RUMORS WON’T GO AWAY Aguero may have come up short against Wigan in the FA Cup, but the Argentine has been unqualified success at Manchester City. The 25-year-old striker is consistently linked with Real Madrid and Barcelona but Manuel Pellegrini says his star player won’t be saying ‘cheerio chaps, cheerio goodbye’ anytime soon. He said: "Big clubs do not sell their best players and I don't think Sergio will be going anywhere. Sergio is very happy here. You never know what can happen in the future, but he is a very important player here." Go figure.

RUMOR: AC MILAN TO ARSENAL // LIKELIHOOD: NO It’s been a desperately poor season for AC Milan, but one sweet spot has been the form of Riccardo Montolivo, who last week was linked with a move to Arsenal. However, that’s just old news. The Gunners made an enquiry during the transfer window and decided instead to sign injured Swede Kim Kallstrom. Oh dear. Atletico and Borussia Dortmund also expressed an interest, but it seems as though the Italian will be staying at San Siro.

RUMOR: TOTTENHAM TO LIVERPOOL // LIKELIHOOD: POSSIBLE Vertonghen’s burning ambition to play Champions League football has alerted a couple of clubs to his availability in the summer. Spurs’ capitulation at Chelsea makes it unlikely they will finish in the top four in May – a fact not lost on the Belgium defender. The Reds have a chance, although Barcelona are also supposed to be interested, although we think the Catalans have their hearts set on Chelsea’s David Luiz.
