Rumor: Marseille to Arsenal. // Likelihood: Good luck. // Reasons: Gignac, who is out of contract in the summer, has been linked with a move to Arsenal in January, but Marseille are thought to be determined to hang on to their striker who has been banging in the goals this season. The French giants are working industriously in a bid to get the 28-year-old forward to pen a one-year extension. Guess what? It looks like Arsene Wenger is going to miss out on another transfer target.

Rumor: Free agent to Tottenham. // Likelihood: Good chance. // Reasons: Diarra is without a club after leaving Lokomotiv Moscow earlier this year and interest in the former Real Madrid midfielder is starting to pick up. Marseille are thought to be interested but Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino hopes to see the ex-Chelsea and Arsenal man put his signature on a contract in the near future. L’Equipe believe the Londoners are favorites to sign a player that would bring some much-needed steel to Spurs’ midfield.
Rumor: Manchester United to Ajax. // Likelihiood: Out of the question. // Reasons: Last week the United youngster was linked with a move to Ajax but that was before he put in a decent performance during the exciting 1-1 draw with Chelsea. In any case, former United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar, marketing director with the Dutch giants, says although his club would be interested in signing him the cost would be prohibitive. They "never say never" – but we’re saying never.

Rumor: Zenit St. Petersburg to Manchester United // Likelihood: Possible. // Likelihood: United still look frail at the back as Didier Drogba proved at Old Trafford on Sunday and word has it that Louis van Gaal has earmarked a name that was linked with United about three years ago. Garay joined Zenit last summer but it is thought he is the man to strengthen a creaky defense. On the plus side, Garay is represented by Jorge Mendes -- doesn’t he represent everyone? -- the man who brought Radamel Falcao and Angel Di Maria to Old Trafford. It’s not a brand new rumor but it certainly has a touch of credibility.

Rumor: Chelsea to Besiktas. // Likelihood: Others have a better chance. // Reasons: Cech would have plenty of suitors should he and Chelsea decide to go their separate ways. Real Madrid, PSG, Atletico Madrid and Monaco have all appeared in the papers as potential destinations at some point, but the London Evening Standard are reporting that the Blues have recently agreed a “strategic partnership” with Besiktas, whatever that means, so add Turkey to that list. It would be a heaven sent deal should the Istanbul club pull it off but they are at the back of the queue in our view.

Rumor: Real Madrid to AC Milan. // Likelihood: What are friends for? // Reasons: We like the cheek of this rumor. Adriano Galliani plans to take advantage of his good relationship with Real Madrid president by helping himself to two of the European champions’ players, according to Domenica Sportiva. Please don’t stop there, Adriano, take your pick. You’d like Isco and Asier Illarramendi? Sure thing. Anyone else you’d like? Well, you just say the word. Isco has looked in good form lately so we doubt this one, although Illarramendi is a possibility if Galliano asks -- nicely.

Rumor: Arsenal to Manchester City. // Likelihood: Eh? // Reasons: We don’t quite know how Spanish news website Fichajes would know that Ozil wants to sign for Manchester City in January but we doubt this one very much. Firstly, the Germany midfielder is injured and secondly he is still trying to get the majority of Arsenal fans onside. Sometimes, it needs a change of scene to bring a player back to life but we’re not sure how Ozil would fit in at the Etihad even if Pellegrini wanted him.

Rumor: Inter Milan to Manchester United // Likelihood: Hmm… // Reasons: How quickly the wheels turn on the footballing merry-go-round. A few days ago, Marouane Fellaini was apparently told he would be sold in January to accommodate the signing of Guarin from Inter Milan. That story came even after Fellaini stepped in to inspire United’s comeback against West Brom. Well, anyone who witnessed Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Chelsea will be wondering why United would want to sell him. Trust us, Fellaini covered every blade of grass against the Premier League leaders, a performance which may convince Louis van Gaal to keep him without having to cough up for Guarin.

Rumor: Barcelona to Arsenal. // Likelihood: Won’t happen. // Reasons: So, it looks like there’s been a fallin’ out at Camp Nou. Pedro has reportedly handed in a transfer request at Barcelona amid reports Arsenal are going to make a $40 million bid in January. We don’t know whether Pedro wants to leave but what we do know is that Barcelona are banned from signing players for the next two transfer windows and doubt very much Luis Enrique would want to part with a player that has been a regular starter as of late.

Rumor: Seattle to Premier League. // Likelihood: Very good chance. // Reasons: Don’t panic Sounders fans, this is not a permanent move we’re talking about here. USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann has apparently given his blessing for Deuce to sneak back to England for another loan spell in order to stay match sharp but what’s the next move? Fulham are now playing in the Championship so he’s unlikely to return to Craven Cottage. However, three Premier League clubs are thought to be in the running to sign the United States attacker -- Aston Villa, QPR and Stoke. Take your pick.
