Rumor: Celtic to Arsenal // Likelihood: Possible // Transfer Talk: We don’t know whether it’s a compliment to be described as the Dutch David Luiz but Van Dijk has been linked with a move to Arsenal in January as Arsene Wenger seeks to strengthen his threadbare squad. Is he good enough to play in the wonderland that is the Premier League? We’re not sure. Looking at the Scottish Premiership table most people would be rubbing their eyes in disbelief to see Celtic fifth in the table and six points off leaders Hamilton. Surely Van Dijk must shoulder some of the blame for that miserable situation? West Ham are also thought to be interested.

Rumor: West Brom to Tottenham // Likelihood: Not at that price // Transfer Talk: Last week West Brom manager Alan Irvine said he would be surprised if his club sold England U21 striker Berahino for £15 million ($24.2 million). The Mail on Sunday reported that Tottenham would have to pay double that to prise the Burundi-born forward away from The Hawthorns. Would Spurs chairman Daniel Levy blow that sort of dough on a youngster? Unlikely.

Rumor: Marseille to Premier League // Likelihood: Plenty of suitors // Transfer Talk: In May, Ayew said he was happy at Marseille but that was five months ago. Now, according to L'Equipe, the Ghana winger, who impressed at the World Cup, has changed his agent and is looking for a big club. Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal have already been mentioned as potential destinations, but the latest is a different kind of animal -- West Ham. And before you start laughing, the Hammers are above all three of those giants in the Premier League table.

Rumor: Arsenal to Tottenham // Likelihood: We hope so! // Transfer Talk: Recently-retired defender William Gallas was the last player to move from Arsenal to Tottenham four years ago but could Lukas Podolski be the next? Podolski has been linked with a £10 million ($16.14 million) move to White Hart Lane and, in our view, Arsene Wenger would deserve everything he gets should the German cross the north London divide. However, Podolski was once asked whether he would rather join Spurs or retire and he chose the latter. And on Monday he tweeted that "hell will freeze over before this transfer would happen. #Poldi #aha #AlwaysAGunner #NeverCheatYourClub #AFC #Redarmy." Looks like one of the Premier League's best finishers won’t turn backstabber.

Rumor: Torino to Manchester United // Likelihood: Paper talk? // Transfer Talk: So, Dani Alves looks like he’s slipped off the radar as Barcelona negotiate a new deal for the Brazilian right-back. Where does that leave United? Suddenly, from nowhere, one of the tabloids claims Darmian has been "extensively scouted" by the Red Devils. Blah, blah, blah. He is also described as a two-footed full-back. Don’t all players have two feet? The fee is rumored to be around £15 million ($24.2 million) but your guess is as good as ours.

Rumor: Fiorentina to Liverpool // Likelihood: Depends on pay talks // Transfer Talk: There’s no better name for a goalkeeper than Neto and the Brazilian is apparently on Liverpool’s hit list as they look for an alternative to free agent Victor Valdes, whose wage demands make him a more expensive option than a player in contract! Neto is out of contract at the end of the season and all that matters to him is that he gets a pay hike from Fiorentina. If he doesn’t it’s arrivederci!

Rumor: Borussia Dortmund to Arsenal // Likelihood: Staying // Transfer Talk: It doesn’t matter how much Hummels says he loves playing for Dortmund the UK media are determined to offload him to either Arsenal or Manchester United. C’mon guys, wise up! The Gunners have cash to splash as revealed at Thursday’s AGM and a defender is definitely Wenger’s priority for January. The word is that Hummels will cost £32 million ($51.65 million) but he is also wanted by Manchester United. After watching Hummels be taken to the cleaners by John O’Shea last week, we’re wondering whether Wenger’s interest has cooled.

Rumor: Real Madrid to Manchester United // Likelihood: Still up in the air // Transfer Talk: Khedira is one of those Marco Reus-like sagas where everybody has an opinion about where he will end up but in reality it’s also just blind guesswork. The facts are these. Khedira’s contract runs out in June. Real Madrid are working on a new deal, but if he doesn’t want to sign it then the Spanish giants will let his contract run down. The guesswork is that United, knowing Khedira’s contract is about to run out, will make a £10 million ($16.14 million) offer for him in January. Are Real Madrid prepared to lose him for nothing? We’ll see.

Rumor: Barcelona to Manchester City // Likelihood: Lots of ifs // Transfer Talk: The old warrior Xavi has been linked with a move to Manchester City but this one has at least two degrees of separation before it becomes a reality. Goal report that Xavi’s playing time has been curtailed by Luis Enrique but he has actually played every minute of Barca’s last three games. What this depends on is Xavi agreeing to sign for New York City, just like Frank Lampard and then Manuel Pellegrini making a move in January.

Rumor: Cruzeiro to Real Madrid // Likelihood: All depends // Transfer Talk: Lucas Silva is one of the hottest properties in Brazilian football and his talent has caught the eye of Real Madrid, who may need a replacement for Sami Khedira should the German leave the Bernabeu in January or at the end of the season. Julio Baptista reckons he has a supernatural talent and can make the leap into Europe with either a Spanish or English club. The ball is in Khedira’s court.
