Rumor: Roma to Manchester United // Likelihood: Who knows what summer will bring // Talking points: The battling Belgian has been pivotal in Roma’s rise since joining on loan from Cagliari, before turning the move into a permanent one in the summer. United have spent a lot of time watching the Italian outfit, with fellow midfielder Kevin Strootman linked with Old Trafford, you can be sure Rudi Garcia will be pleading with both players to stay with me, but if one moves, the other certainly won’t.

Rumor: Schalke to Arsenal // Likelihood: Not Gunner happen // Talking points: Arsene Wenger might be keen to add some more winners to his team with Arsenal’s trophy haul in recent years consisting of ... erm ... just one. However the accumulation of World Cup winners such as Mesut Ozil and Per Mertesacker could be one way of improving on that lowly figure. Howedes represents another of the Mannschaft who have won the biggest prize, but the Schalke man is too similar to Mertesacker for Wenger to make the move, so I’ve told you now, this is a non-starter.

Rumor: Manchester City to Juventus // Likelihood: It seems too good to be true // Talking points: Once one of the darlings of City, Dzeko has been limited to opportunities, and what was once a good thing for the big Bosnian has turned sour. But Juventus could be on hand to help out in what could be ideal for both clubs. The 28-year-old is set up to be a success in Serie A with his strong hold-up play and excellent finishing, he could well become a makeweight in any proposed deal that could see Juve’s Paul Pogba go the other way -- it looks like everyone’s a winner.

Rumor: Wolfsburg to Manchester United or Chelsea // Likelihood: Stay! // Talking points: With United’s hunt to recruit midfielders rumbling on, it’s no surprise that the in-form De Bruyne’s name has been pulled out of the rumor mill. The Belgian was excellent against Bayern Munich more than a week ago, scoring twice in a 4-1 rout. However it seems that the Red Devils aren’t the only side interested in the young Wolf. But who else could be? Apparently former club Chelsea have realized -- not for the first time -- that one of their midfielders was quite good before letting him go. De Bruyne could well be on life support with all the stress of moving back and forth if this goes through.

Rumor: Manchester City or Manchester United // Likelihood: United are calling. // Talking points: It looks like Dani boy’s time at Barca could well be up, but he’s not short of a few options in his next move. Both Manchester clubs are eager to sign the defender and while United are currently linked with everyone, the Brazilian will be thinking I’m not the only one. However, the 31-year-old is set to be a free agent, and United will be keen to snap him up and edge out rivals City, who already have two strong right-backs in Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna.

Rumor: PSG to Arsenal // Likelihood: Quite possible. // Talking points: While Verratti represents one of PSG’s best young prospects, the Parisians could consider cashing in on the Italian to help fund deals of their own. Although it is money on my mind first and foremost as the reason this could happen, Arsenal have been on the lookout for someone special to fill the defensive midfield position. Much will depend on how Francis Coquelin, who currently holds that role, does for the rest of the season; in any case Verratti would be an excellent addition.

Rumor: Inter Milan to Liverpool // Likelihood: Now is the time // Talking points: Easily regarded as one of the world’s best goalkeepers, Handanovic has not been short of suitors during his career. There have been plenty of times that I’ve thought the Slovenian would be willing to make a Premier League move, like I can see with the latest rumor linking him with Liverpool. The Reds still want to improve on their current keeper following some indifferent performances by Simon Mignolet and Handanovic’s availability could be greater than ever with Inter struggling in the league.

Rumor: Atletico Madrid to Manchester United // Likelihood: Not a priority, but there could be something in this. // Talking points: The towering Croatian has adapted well to life in La Liga since his move from Bayern Munich in the summer and the Atleti fans have embraced him, but not in that way they have with the returning Fernando Torres. While Torres’ return may not have intended to send the wrong message to Mandzukic from coach Diego Simeone, you can bet certain clubs will be sniffing around. Manchester United are the leading contenders with the futures of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao in doubt, the Atletico striker could be the perfect replacement.

Rumor: Tottenham to Real Madrid // Likelihood: Not gonna happen // Talking points: Right now any club tempting the forward with a move would be like asking you to leave your lover, with the Spurs striker still head over heels with the club since his brace against Arsenal. But that’s just what Real could be trying to do, and with Kane taking his total to 22 goals in all competitions, he is one of Europe’s hottest strikers. Despite a number of players swapping White Hart Lane for the Bernabeu in recent years, Kane -- supposedly a lifelong Tottenham fan -- will be staying put for some time.

Rumor: Marseille to Southampton // Likelihood: Could be a 'shore' thing. // Talking points: Having made some excellent moves in the transfer windows available to him, Ronald Koeman has masterfully rebuilt the Saints and could be about to play another of his trump cards. With the Marseille striker out of contract in the summer Gignac could be swapping French Riviera for England’s south coast, with the 29-year-old thinking ‘I want to continue to lay me down on the beach’. However, this would be a real coup for Koeman considering the French international is a target for West Ham and Everton ... But I’m sure the Southampton beaches will be too much of an attraction.
