Player of the Week
Freddy Montero, F, Seattle Sounders The Colombian striker went into the week having yet to score a goal or provide an assist, but he did both in helping lead the Sounders to a 2-0 week. First, he blasted a Goal of the Year candidate in Seattle’s 2-0 victory against the LA Galaxy, then Montero provided a beautiful assist to set up Mauro Rosales’ game-winning goal in Seattle’s 1-0 victory against Philadelphia.
Rookie of the Week
Ryan Meara, GK, New York Red Bulls For the second week in a row, Ryan Meara came up huge in leading a patchwork New York Red Bulls defense to a shutout win. Meara was even better this week, denying the LA Galaxy with four key says and some outstanding command of the penalty area.
Team of the Week

Jesse Marsch’s squad defended well and capitalized on its chances to become the first team to score
Comeback of the Week
