No. 1 Flyweight Contender Shevchenko Makes Analyst Debut with Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Werdum and Santiago on FOX Deportes

LOS ANGELES – Today, FOX Sports announces UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and retired contender Kenny Florian to serve as desk analysts alongside lead UFC host Karyn Bryant for FS1 UFC FIGHT NIGHT: MAIA VS. USMAN programming on Friday, May 18 and Saturday, May 19.

Blow-by-blow announcer Brendan Fitzgerald and veteran MMA analyst Jimmy Smith call the bouts live Octagon-side from Santiago, Chile. Laura Sanko adds reports and interviews fighters on-site. In addition, No. 1-ranked flyweight contender Valentina Shevchenko makes her analyst debut alongside former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum and Troy Santiago calling the fights in Spanish on FOX Deportes.

Two elite welterweights headline UFC’s first visit to Chile as Kamaru Usman (11-1) faces former title challenger Demian Maia (25-8) in a five-round main event in Santiago. Winner of 11 bouts in a row, including seven in the Octagon over the likes of Leon Edwards and Sergio Moraes, the No. 7-ranked Usman has been a nightmare matchup for everyone he’s faced. He expects similar results against the Brazilian grappling wizard Maia, the No. 5 contender at 170 pounds, who owns wins against top contenders Jorge Masvidal, Carlos Condit, Matt Brown, Neil Magny and Gunnar Nelson.

FOX Sports UFC programming starts today, Wednesday, May 16 with UFC TONIGHT on FS1 (8:00 PM ET), when host Florian and guest host Woodley preview the UFC FIGHT NIGHT: MAIA VS. USMAN and interview both headliners.

Coverage continues on Friday, May 18 (4:00 PM ET), with the FS1 UFC WEIGH-IN SHOW on FS2 and FOX Sports GO with Bryant, Florian and Woodley in studio discussing the fights, while Sanko reports onsite. The same crew kicks off Saturday’s programming at 7:00 PM ET with the FS1 UFC FIGHT NIGHT PREFIGHT SHOW on FS2 and FOX Sports GO, previewing the evening’s fights.

The two-hour UFC FIGHT NIGHT PRELIMS begin at 8:00 PM ET on FS2, FOX Deportes and FOX Sports GO with four exciting bouts. Zak Cummings (21-5) fights Michel Prazeres (24-2) in a welterweight scrap. No. 7-ranked flyweight Brandon Moreno (14-4) and No. 12 Alexandre Pantoja (18-3) tangle, while Poliana Botelho (5-1) and Syuri Kondo (6-0) square off at 115 pounds. Plus, Gabriel Benitez (20-7) battles Humberto Bandenay (14-4, 1NC) open the PRELIMS with a featherweight clash.

The three-hour main card moves to FS1, FOX Deportes and FOX Sports GO at 10:00 PM ET and features five more action-packed bouts. No. 9-ranked strawweight Alexa Grasso (10-1) faces No. 12 Tatiana Suarez (6-0). Jared Cannonier (10-3) and undefeated Dominick Reyes (8-0) meet in a light heavyweight tilt. Diego Rivas (7-1) and Guido Cannetti (7-3) square off in a bantamweight battle. Flyweight Veronica Macedo (5-1-1) battles Andrea Lee (8-2). Plus, Vincente Luque (12-6-1) and Chad Laprise (14-2) open the main card with a welterweight bout.

The action wraps up immediately following the main event with the FS1 UFC FIGHT NIGHT POSTFIGHT SHOW, where Bryant, Woodley and Florian recap the evening, while Sanko interviews fighters.

Leading up to the fights, UFC fighters offer unique, behind-the-scenes clips on FOX Sports PROcast and on the FOX UFC social pages. In addition, all programs are also available on FOX Sports on SiriusXM channel 83 on satellite radio and on the SiriusXM app.
