FOX NASCAR QUOTES

On Joey Logano ending his 36-race winless streak at Talladega:
“Joey Logano and the No. 22 team had led only 38 laps in the first eight races of the season, and in the last two races alone, they’ve led 162 laps. It’s hard to hang your hat on Richmond and Talladega, but that’s a good start. However, I want to see how they run at Dover, Kansas and Charlotte as we move into the summer months. With a win, they can afford to be more aggressive and take chances.”
–Larry McReynolds

On the importance of a strong showing by Chevrolet at Dover:
“Who would have thought Austin Dillon would be the only Chevrolet driver to visit Victory Lane as we head to Dover? Dover will be a pretty good measuring stick for where the Chevrolet camp is because we know the Jimmie Johnson domination story at Dover. He has been amazing. Chase Elliott has been spot on there and has done everything but cash in for the win. Kyle Larson has also run well. I go into Dover watching those three, and I expect we will have a better idea of the health of Chevrolet when we leave Dover. Aerodynamics are so important because the cars are in the corner for so long, so Dover will be a great measuring stick.”
–Larry McReynolds

“Chevrolet really needs a strong run at Dover. The manufacturer has suffered a talent loss in the driver pool the past few years, particularly when Stewart-Haas Racing went to Ford. Chevy doesn’t have the driver depth the other manufacturers have, and many of their drivers are young right now.”
–Darrell Waltrip

On the cohesion among drivers and teams in the Ford camp this season:
“There has been no better indication of the teamwork among the Ford drivers – even across different teams – than we saw Sunday at Talladega. Those four Ford drivers were committed to staying together and winning that race.”
–Darrell Waltrip

On Denny Hamlin incurring another pit-road speeding penalty at Talladega:
“I don’t even know what else to say about Denny Hamlin speeding on pit road. He was caught speeding at Talladega, and when serving his drive-through penalty, he sped again. He has had 51 pit road speeding penalties in his career — 26 since the beginning of 2015. I don’t know what Joe Gibbs Racing has to do to fix this, but they have to do something.”
–Larry McReynolds
