Defending U.S. Women’s Open champion Brittany Lang discussed her relaxed approach and title defense with FOX Sports on-course reporter Natalie Gulbis:
“I’m definitely going to make sure I have a lot of good meals and enjoy the food that the city has to offer.
“It’s been a fun week being the defending champion. I have to get a little more focused and get ready to play great.
“I like the course. I know the USGA will mess around with some tee boxes, which I always love, but it [the course] is long. You have to be hitting the ball well.”
Analyst Brad Faxon says long hitters have an advantage at this year’s U.S. Women’s Open:
“I would say there is a theme this year in all the U.S. Opens – the Men’s, the Women’s and the Senior – wider fairways than the players are typically accustomed to at U.S. Open sites. I think it’s really going to help the longer hitters.”
Analyst Juli Inkster singles out Lexi Thompson as a golfer to watch this week:
“Lexi keeps knocking at the door. She’s relentless and she’s so powerful. She’s definitely our Dustin Johnson of the LPGA Tour. She’s just so fun to watch.”
