Top Video Highlights:
- Shannon Sharpe says Julio Jones is the best player in Super Bowl LI
- Greg Jennings disagrees, dubs Tom Brady the big game’s greatest
- Skip Bayless places higher value on Julian Edelman over Julio Jones
Skip Bayless doubles down on belief that Tom Brady is more valuable than Bill Belichick:
“This question becomes offensive to me because I don’t think it’s even close. It has always been Tom Brady is more valuable than Bill Belichick. In fact, I believe that Tom Brady saved Bill’s job and made Bill what he became. He allowed Bill to become Bill Belichick… Out of the sky, into their lap, in the sixth round had fallen some kid from Michigan who had run the ugliest looking NFL Combine 40-yard dash you will ever see. But he can play, when the chips were on the table, as you [Shannon Sharpe and Ray Lewis] saw up close, and you guys did the best job anybody ever did against him in his place, but he can play. He’s got laser focus, he’s got intangibles, he’s got a killer will in him that supersedes whatever talent he wasn’t born with.”
Cris Carter measures value based on which receiver warrants double coverage:
“There’s two different aspects here as far as evaluating the receivers. You mentioned the good stats as far as Edelman since week number five; he’s the most targeted so he’s very, very valuable to Tom Brady. Also, they don’t have a bunch of explosive players. Edelman is invaluable. Edelman cannot have a bad game for New England to win. Now, on Julio’s side we have a different element. You have one of the rare athletes, he’s like a defensive end. When you have a defensive end like Lawrence Taylor or any other great players, you have to double team them on every play. So what you do is you tilt the field because you hurt the number count…When you talk about who’s more valuable, one player tilts the field. So if I have to pick who is more critical it’s Julio Jones because he can create the double team that provides a bunch of mismatches. I haven’t seen Edelman double-teamed.”
