Robert Damron is a 17-year veteran of the PGA Tour and winner of the 2001 Byron Nelson Championship with 331 starts and 19 top-10 finishes. Damron got his start on the PGA Tour with an exemption to the 1997 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic which he obtained with the help of his neighbor Arnold Palmer. He played collegiate golf at the University of Central Florida and was a three-time All-American.


Damron is an active contributor on, weighing in on a variety of topics from the unique perspective that only a former PGA Tour professional can provide. His latest stories range from what it’s like to have the yips, to predictions for the U.S. Open, to why there is now a shift to the younger players on the tour.


Damron was born in Pikeville, Ky. A member of the golf team, he attended the University of Central Florida.
