Ralph Sheheen is the lead play-by-play voice for FOX Sports’ MONSTER ENERGY SUPERCROSS and part of a rotation of play-by-play announcers for FIA FORMULA E CHAMPIONSHIP races. In addition, Sheheen also works on FOX Sports coverage of the ARCA RACING SERIES and FIA WORLD ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP.
A DIVERSE BROADCASTER
For several years through the conclusion of 2014, he was a collector car analyst for FOX Sports’ Barrett-Jackson auction broadcasts and a pit reporter for TNT’s summer coverage of the NASCAR Cup Series, in addition to his duties as a pit reporter for select NASCAR Cup Series practice sessions on FS1, as well as play-by-play work on the FIM MotoGP Championship and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. He also covered several additional series for SPEED, including AMA Road Racing, World Superbike and American Le Mans Series, among others.
Sheheen has tremendous experience calling dirt-track races, including World of Outlaws, USAC midgets, USAC sprint cars, USAC Silver Crown, big block modifieds, small block modifieds, Lucas Oil Dirt Late Models, World of Outlaws Late Model events and AMA Pro Flat Track motorcycles among others. In addition, he called the third annual NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Tony Stewart’s Eldora Speedway in July 2015.
The Sacramento, Calif., native first entered the auto racing industry in 1988 and has covered nearly every form of motor sports throughout his career. His wide-ranging experience spans everything from NASCAR and swamp buggy racing to international racing such as Formula One and the FIM MotoGP World Championship — the world’s premiere motorcycle racing series.
His travels have taken him to numerous different networks including CBS, NBC, TNT, TBS, ESPN, TNN and NBCSN, CBSSN and MAVTV. He also has handled radio calls for the Motor Racing Network, Performance Racing Network and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Radio Network, and has been a public address announcer at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Daytona International Speedway, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and Sonoma Raceway.
Outside of his on-air prowess, Sheheen owns SPEED SPORT, motor sports’ original publication, which also entails producing print and digital versions of SPEED SPORT magazine, operating its website, producing television programming and providing daily email updates to users. Sheheen also has produced programming for ESPN, SPEED and MAVTV.
Away from television, Sheheen is a true automotive and motorcycle enthusiast. He also is a racer, logging laps in everything from stock cars and Indy cars to karts and Thunder Roadsters. One of his biggest on-track triumphs was a second-place finish in the Baja 1000, where he took honors in Class 7 4×4. Sheheen resides in North Carolina with his family.
