Josh Norman is an on-air contributor for FOX NFL SUNDAY and FOX NFL KICKOFF and one of the NFL’s rising young stars on the field and in front of the camera. The Washington Redskins All-Pro cornerback splits appearances between FOX’s two pregame shows, participating in talkbacks via satellite and features shot during his game weeks. During his bye-weeks, Norman serves as an analyst in the FOX Sports studios in Los Angeles.
Originally a fifth-round draft choice of the Carolina Panthers, Norman has developed into one of the NFL’s top cover men since entering the league in 2012. Emerging as a true shutdown corner, he enjoyed a breakout season in 2015 as an integral part of an opportunistic Carolina defense that led the NFL in takeaways. Norman helped the Panthers to a victory in the NFC Championship Game and a berth in Super Bowl 50, while individually earning prestigious first-team All-Pro acclaim from both the Associated Press and the Pro Football Writers Association, in addition to being named to the Pro Bowl. He signed with the Redskins as a free agent in April 2016.
Born and raised in Greenwood, S.C., Norman began his playing days at Greenwood High School, where he was a multi-sport athlete. He was named an All-State football player and was selected for the North-South All-Star Game. He also participated in basketball, baseball and track.
Despite a stellar high school performance, Norman was not offered a Division I scholarship, so he enrolled at Horry Georgetown Tech in 2007 and walked onto the Coastal Carolina football team the next year. Following a strong true freshman campaign in which he started seven of 12 games, Norman was awarded a scholarship. While at Coastal Carolina, where he majored in communications with a minor in dramatic art, Norman broke a number of records and received various All-America and conference awards. In 2012, he became the third Chanticleer to be drafted in the NFL, selected by the Panthers 143rd overall.
