Dave Rieff teams with analyst and boothmate Tony Pedregon calling the 10,000-horsepower action of FOX NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series for FOX Sports.
Sliding over from ESPN when the NHRA made the move to FOX Sports in 2016, Rieff has covered drag racing in various roles since 2000. Prior to that, he worked for multiple networks, covering a variety of motor sports, including NHRA, World of Outlaws, off-road racing and motorcycle racing.
After 17 years as a pit reporter, working along drag racing broadcasting greats like Dave McClelland, Steve Evans, Bob Frey, Marty Reid and Paul Page, Rieff took the reins with ESPN’s coverage of NHRA in 2013, hosting their telecasts of both the Mello Yello Series and the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series.
Rieff’s motor sports roots can be traced back to the Iowa dirt tracks, where from 1993 to 1996, he co-produced and reported in Iowa Auto Racing Weekly for WOI-TV in Des Moines. As a track announcer at Knoxville Raceway, Rieff called World of Outlaws events, the Knoxville Nationals and Kings Royal, as well as the International Motor Contest Association’s IMCA Super Nationals. While at Knoxville, he hosted Knoxville Racing Weekly.
After a move to Florida in 1996, Rieff went to work for famed Diamond P Sports as an associate producer and pit reporter for the production company’s NHRA and South Florida swamp buggy coverage, continuing to work freelance duties with the World of Outlaws, while also collecting work with the Discovery Wings channel.
Born in Rantoul, Ill., Rieff received a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and mass communications from Iowa State University.
