Alex Blanco is one of the most highly regarded commentators of his generation and brings vast soccer background to his roles as commentator and host of the leading sports soccer talk show, LA ULTIMA PALABRA. Prior to LA ULTIMA PALABRA, Blanco was the lead anchor on the sports news program CENTRAL FOX and was instrumental in FOX Deportes’ coverage of the 2014 World Cup from Brazil. Blanco also served as a play-by-play commentator and analyst for a variety of programs, including the UEFA Champions League, Copa Libertadores and the 2012 London Olympic Games. Blanco joined FOX Deportes in 2011 as part of the elite team of sports journalists of FÚTBOL SIN CODIGOS, a polemic soccer roundtable commentary show.
Blanco began his career 20 years ago as sports anchor for TV Azteca’s morning shows, TEMPRANITO and RAFAGA NBA. After TV Azteca, Blanco moved to Chicago to work for WSNS, the local Telemundo affiliate, where he was the official voice of the Chicago Fire. His longstanding career expanded to include various sports anchor positions at Telemundo for programs including FUTBOL TELEMUNDO, SABADO DE FUTBOL and RUMBO AL MUNDIAL, where he also covered the Beijing and Athens Olympics for the network. He was a member of the play-by-play commentating teams on XM Satellite radio, and most recently an anchor for ESPN Deportes’ SPORTSCENTER, ESPN Radio Fórmula and co-host of LOS CAPITANES and CAMINO A SUDAFRICA.
