Phil Hellmuth knocked out of World Series of Poker, 237 left

LAS VEGAS (AP) Poker pro Phil Hellmuth's chances at a second World Series of Poker championship have been vanquished as the field in the No-limit Texas Hold `em main event has shrunk to 237 players from nearly 1,200 on Friday evening.

The field started with 6,420 players each putting $10,000 on the line.

Hellmuth went all-in Saturday with a pair of queens against fellow poker icon Daniel Negreanu whose ace and a king became a pair of kings when the community cards were revealed.

Hellmuth won the prized main event in 1989. He wins $21,786 for finishing 417.

Negreaunu remains in the running.

The main event is the culmination of the 51-day World Series of Poker and the last of 68 events.

The final 1,000 competitors are promised a minimum $15,000 payday. The winner gets $7.7 million.
