FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — The Northern Arizona men’s basketball team has signed Tate de Laveaga to a national letter of intent for the 2014-15 season.
De Laveaga is a 6-foot-3 guard out of Scottsdale. He played his freshman and sophomore seasons at Horizon High School in Scottsdale before transferring to Westwind Prep Academy in Phoenix. De Laveaga is spending his senior year at Pinnacle High School in Phoenix but will not play for the team.
During his final season at Westwind Prep Academy, De Laveaga led the team with 18.9 points, 4.9 assists and 2.1 steals per game. De Laveaga was ranked as the No. 2 guard in the state of Arizona entering his senior season.
“We are very excited about Tate,” coach Jack Murphy said. “He is a great young man who competes and plays hard on both ends of the floor. Tate also showed great loyalty in keeping with his commitment and we look forward to bright days ahead for him at NAU.”
