The men’s lacrosse championships took a break on Thursday but two tantalizing semi-finals are to be played on Friday evening. Top-seeded Michigan squares off against #4 Chapman, and #3 Arizona State will face this year’s Cinderella #10 Simon Fraser.

#10 Simon Fraser hail from British Columbia, Canada and will attempt to reach their first ever championship game by beating favorites Arizona State. The Sun Devils have a chip on their shoulder after being playoff ineligible in 2009, and they have an experienced group of players. The juniors and seniors that were involved in 2008’s MCLA semi-final loss will try to cross that last hurdle and reach the title game.

After losing six of their first eight games, #10 Simon Fraser has become a remarkable story. The underdogs defeated Florida State in the first round before producing the 12-11 upset over hometown favorite Colorado State in the quarterfinals. After defeating ASU 14-7 on April 4th, Simon Fraser will have the belief that they can reach the title game, which should make for an interesting matchup between teams with contrasting styles. The game begins at 7pm EST and will air live on FCS Central and DirecTV channel 617. Live coverage will be shown on

In a rematch of the last two championship games, #1 Michigan will face #4 Chapman. Chapman is hoping to break through against a Michigan side that has defeated them three times in the last two years. The Wolverines have won those three contests by a combined seven goals so the two teams should produce a tense, high-quality contest on Friday night. This one should go down to the wire as Chapman continues their quest for their first national championship, and Michigan looks to keep the dream alive of winning three straight titles.

Tune in at 9:30pm EST for what might be the game of the season between perennial MCLA powers Chapman and Michigan. The game will be aired on FCS Central, DirecTV channel 617, and will be streamed live on
