The Phoenix Coyotes on Friday called up forwards Chris Brown and Rob Klinkhammer from the team’s American Hockey League affiliate in Portland.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Brown has appeared in 51 games with the Pirates this season, totaling 18 goals and 29 points. The 22-year-old ranks second on the team in goals and is fourth in scoring while leading the team with seven power-play goals. Brown was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the second round (36th overall) in 2009, but he didn’t sign until last year after he finished his college career at Michigan, where he had 34 goals and 46 assists in 125 games.
The 6-foot-3, 214-pound Klinkhammer has appeared in 52 games with the Pirates this season and has 14 goals and 30 assists for a team-leading 44 points. He is tied for eighth in the AHL in scoring. The 26-year-old has played in 16 career NHL games with the Chicago Blackhawks and Ottawa Senators, tallying two assists. Klinkhammer signed with the Coyotes as a free agent last summer.
