Browns deny report on Gruden coach offer

The Cleveland Browns have issued a statement that is denying a report that Jon Gruden was offered a percentage of ownership in exchange to coach the Tennessee Volunteers football team.

“Jimmy Haslam has no involvement in the University of Tennessee head coaching search, and the report that Jon Gruden would potentially have an ownership stake in the Browns is completely erroneous,” the statement read.
The quote is directly attributed to Neal Gulkis, Vice President, Media Relations for the Browns.
A CBS affiliate in Memphis, Tennessee reported that Gruden was offered a contract to coach the Volunteers, and that part of the offer included partial ownership with the Browns.
