“There’s a lot of urgency in this game, at least the way I’m looking at it”, says Blue Jackets head coach Todd Richards. Columbus wants to halt the string of losses at three with a win tonight as they get set to take on the Washington Capitals at the Verizon Center.
Marian Gaborik draws back into the Blue Jackets lineup tonight versus the Capitals, after battling a bout with the flu. With him on the top line, it looks to be Cam Atkinson on the opposite wing and Artem Anisimov centering that line. Brandon Dubinsky drops down to the 2nd line, more to spark Anisimov’s scoring, rather than as a demotion for Dubinsky. While all four lines are a scoring threat, the 2nd line of Boone Jenner, Brandon Dubinsky and Mark Letestu adds a scoring touch to the trio manning the top line.
The final defensive pairings haven’t been set, although Columbus head coach Todd Richards said that Ryan Murray and David Savard will be in the lineup tonight. With Dalton Prout possibly drawing back in, who sits? Educated guess would be Nikita Nikitin being the healthy scratch tonight.
It looks as though Sergei Bobrovsky is getting his 7th start in a row tonight versus the Caps. This might be more to get his confidence back (not that it really ever left, but three losses in a row…). Backup goalie Curtis McIlheny is slated to be between the pipes tomorrow at Nationwide Arena as the Blue Jackets host the visiting Vancouver Canucks.
