The New Mexico State (18-12, 8-8) women’s basketball team opens Western Athletic Conference tournament action at 3:30 p.m. today against fourth-seeded Idaho (10-19, 8-8) at the Lawlor Events Center in Reno, Nev.
The Aggies come into the game after a 62-35 win at home over San Jose State on Senior Night to clinch the fifth seed. The Aggies reached the final of the WAC tournament for three consecutive years from 2006-08 before losing to Louisiana Tech in the quarterfinal round last year.
Idaho clinched the No. 4 seed by winning six of its last nine games, including a 69-62 road win over third-seeded Nevada in its regular-season finale. The Vandals were 9-8 in their final 17 games after starting the season at 1-11. They swept the season series against the Aggies and have won the last four games in the series.

Today’s winner will advance to Friday’s semifinals against the winner between top-seeded Fresno State and eighth-seeded Hawaii.
Junior forward Rachel Kloke leads Idaho in scoring at 14.8 points per game. Sophomore guard Shaena-Lyn Kuehu (10.9) and jJunior forward Yinka Olorunnife (10.4) also average in double-figures.
The Aggies are led by All-WAC senior guard Crystal Boyd. She leads the team in scoring (15.4), rebounds (7.5), blocked shots (49) and steals (67).
