ACC basketball capsules: Tuesday outlook

Tuesday, Jan. 31

Clemson (11-9, 3-3) at Virginia (17-3, 4-2)
When:  7 p.m.
Where: Charlottesville, VA, John Paul Jones Arena (16,500)
Fast break:

Brad Brownell’s Tigers are hanging in there and have at times recently

found a decent groove. The problem is when they are off their game they

are pretty awful. The key is avoiding such a stretch, otherwise, UVa

will grind them down and win going away. Mike Scott vs. Milton Jennings,

if he comes to play, could be an interesting battle.
Forecast: Virginia, 70-55.

North Carolina (18-3, 5-1) at Wake Forest (11-10, 2-5)
When:  9 p.m.
Where: Winston-Salem, N.C., Joel Coliseum (14,665)
Fast break:

In two games without Dexter Strickland, the Tar Heels have been awesome

when necessary. Reggie Bullock at the two spot might make them better,

which isn’t good news for the struggling Demon Deacons. Joel used to be a

tough place for UNC to play, but it likely won’t be tonight.
Forecast: UNC, 85-66.

Andrew Jones’ record: 157-41
