Sochi goes social: Best of athletes’ day in social media pictures

The US Women's Bobsled team hangs out at the Olympic Village.

With the start of the 2014 Winter Olympics just a week away, athletes have started to leave their respective homes and making their way to Sochi.

And thanks to the pervasive power of social media, we’re able to follow Team USA as they start to trickle into the Russian city.

Here’s a rundown of the day’s highlights, as documented by the athletes themselves:

Slopestyle skier Maggie Voisin offers a bird’s eye view of the Olympic venues and the Black Sea.

While speed skater Brian Hansen is literally on the road to the Russian resort town.

Bobsledder Lolo Jones, speed skaters Shani Davis and J.R. Celski, and skeleton racers Noelle Pikus Pace and Katie Uhlaender have an airport reunion.

Slopestyle skiers Nick Goepper and Joss Christensen arrived safe and sound.

As did members of the US men’s bobsled team (though this guy looks a little worse for the wear. Maybe he rides skeleton?).

And because no Olympic trip is complete without a trip to the Olympic rings, we’re treated to this women’s bobsled "Wolf Pack" team hangout:

And Uhlaender’s "ta-da!" pose.

Speed skater Brittany Bowe and her roommates made an Olympic leap on Instagram

Here, an athlete has started testing out the facilities (hello, snow!):

While these bobsled teammates tested out their game faces.
