Reports: Farah detained at customs
Two-time Olympic gold medalist Mo Farah of Great Britain was questioned at US customs on the suspicion of being a terrorist, according to multiple reports.
According to the reports, the famous long distance runner, who won gold in the 5,000 and 10,000 meter races at the 2012 London Olympics, was questioned by border guards after they realized Farah was born in Somalia.
Farah even tried to show the agents his medals to confirm that he was not a terrorist, the reports said.
“I couldn’t believe it," Farah told UK news outlet The Sun. "Because of my Somali origin I get detained every time I come through US Customs. This time I even got my medals out to show who I am, but they wouldn’t have it.”
Farah was on his way to spend Christmas with his family in Portland, Ore. according to the reports. He had relocated to Oregon last year to train at Nike's headquarters.
