Lindsey Vonn, with a fractured knee, fastest in super-G run

Lindsey Vonn’s fractured left knee doesn’t seem to be holding her back. One day after needing to be carried off, the American ski star was the fastest in the first run in the super-G at Andorra on Sunday.

She posted a 57.04-second time in the women’s World Cup Alpine combined event with braces on both knees, finishing ahead of American teammate Laurenne Ross and Kajsa Kling of Sweden. They both finished 0.26 behind Vonn.

Vonn made a graphic post on Instagram of her knee being drained, saying that she planned to go up to the start of the course and decide if she’d compete: (again, warning — the video is of a knee being drained, not for the squeamish)

Apparently she liked what she saw and how she felt once she got up there, because the results don’t lie.
