Budapest is withdrawing its bid to host the 2024 Summer Olympics, the Associated Press confirmed on Wednesday.

Hungarian governing party Fidesz said Budapest's bid had a very small chance of success, and the decision came to avoid "a loss of international prestige" for the country, the AP reported.

That leaves Los Angeles and Paris as the remaining candidate cities to host the Summer Games.

Both Los Angeles and Paris have hosted an Olympic Games twice before: Los Angeles in 1932 and 1984, and Paris in 1900 and 1924.

The IOC will announce its decision at the International Olympic Committee session in Lima, Peru, this September.
