Flatland wins women's biathlon World Cup sprint
OSTERSUND, Sweden (AP)
Ann Kristin Flatland of Norway won the women's 7.5-kilometer sprint race at a biathlon World Cup meet on Friday, shooting cleanly to finish 15.9 seconds ahead of runner-up Olga Zaitseva of Russia.
Last year's overall World Cup winner, Tora Berger of Norway, was third after she missed one target, finishing 22.0 seconds behind Flatland.
Gabriela Soukalova of the Czech Republic finished sixth and leads the World Cup standings with 98 points after winning the 15-kilometer race on Thursday.
Darya Domracheva from Belarus, who finished fourth, is second in the overall standings with 81 points, followed by Flatland with 79.
Berger struggled in the opening race on Thursday, missing five targets to finish in 23rd place. She is seventh overall.
