Olympic time trial champion Fabian Cancellara went to a clinic in the athletes' village after crashing about 10 miles from the finish of the Olympic road race Saturday.

Cancellara was in the lead group when he misjudged a right turn and crashed into the safety barriers, just in front of eventual winner Alexander Vinokourov of Kazakhstan. He wasn't seriously injured, a team spokesperson said, but will have to decide in the coming days whether to compete in the time trial on Wednesday.

Cancellara was able to finish the race of more than 150 miles but was holding up his right arm afterward. Cancellara said on Twitter that he will undergo X-rays.

He wrote: ''Have no words left. The tears are stronger then the pain.''

Cancellara was set to defend his time trial title in London. He pulled out of the Tour de France this month to be with his pregnant wife and prepare for the Olympics. The Swiss star was two months this year after breaking his right collarbone at the Tour of Flanders.
