In his second rehab start, Zach McAllister went six innings as Columbus defeated Charlotte 14-2 on Tuesday afternoon.
McAllister gave up both runs on a pair of solo home runs in the second inning. He allowed three hits but none after the third along with having two walks and six strikeouts. The right-hander threw 94 pitches with 62 being strikes.
McAllister was placed on the disabled list May 22 with a lower back strain. His other rehab start was last Thursday for Lake County where he allowed three runs on nine hits with a walk and four strikeouts against Fort Wayne.
There is a chance that McAllister could get called up to pitch Saturday against Boston, but that would be on just three days rest which would mean that T.J. House could get one more start.
Nick Swisher will play five innings tonight for Akron against Binghamton. The first baseman, who was placed on the DL May 27 with a left knee hyperextension, is hopeful about playing nine innings on Wednesday and could join the Indians in Boston on Thursday, when they begin a four-game series against the Red Sox.
Bautista honored: Infielder Claudio Bautista has been named Indians Minor League Player of the Week for June 2-8. Bautista was 8 for 21 with three home runs and five RBI in six games for the Captains last week along with three multi-hit games. Bautista is batting .282 over his last 10 games, going 11 of 39 with four home runs and seven RBI.
Draft picks sign: The Indians have announced the signings of four draft picks -- pitchers Julian Merryweather (fifth round) and J.P. Feyerreisen (16th round) and infielders Steven Patterson (10th round) and Austin Fisher (13th round).
