Story Lines: Reds vs. Dodgers, 5-28
MAY 28, 2014 3:53p ET
TURN IT AROUND: The Reds desperately need to reverse a four-game losing streak. Granted, the streak has been to some of the best pitchers in the National League (Greinke, Wainwight), and it doesn't get much easier with Clayton Kershaw (his 2.26 ERA since 2011 is the best in MLB), but the Reds need to make something happen. In addition, the Reds have a five-game losing streak at Dodger Stadium.
HOMER HOME AND AWAY: This season Homer Bailey has been a completely different pitcher at home and on the road. Bailey has gone 0-2 with an 8.04 ERA during his last three road starts. At the same time, his luck at Dodger Stadium has been better - he's won two of his last three with a 2.05 ERA.
ALL-STARS AMONG US: The Reds have two players in the top five in newly released All-Star voting. Brandon Phillips comes in third among second basemen, and Devin Mesoraco is fifth among catchers.
BRUCE IS LOOSE: One player who hasn't struggled against Kershaw is Jay Bruce. He's only one of five left-handed hitters to have two or more home runs off Kershaw, and has a .357 average.
