The Browns have to decide whether to pick up the option of defensive lineman Phil Taylor in the next day or two. Taylor is due a roster bonus of nearly $5.5 million.

Head coach Mike Pettine said the team will be discussing that option Thursday night.

"That’s something we discussed and will be part of the meeting. But that’s more something for Ray (Farmer) because it’s contractual and will defer that to Ray."

If the Browns choose to not pick up the option, it could affect Taylor’s play this year.

"It hasn’t occurred yet, so won’t deal with hypothetical but that will be taken into account when you have those option years."

Pettine was asked if Taylor fits in Pettine’s scheme.

"Phil’s explosive and has some pass rush ability," Pettine said. "Absolutely, he’s a fit for us."
