Notre Dame junior wide receiver Will Mahone is facing three felony charges after a weekend incident in his hometown of Austintown, Ohio, near Youngstown.
On Monday, Notre Dame announced Mahone has been suspended indefinitely from the football program. He also faces additional discipline, including possible expulsion, from the school.
According to the police report, police arrived at a party in Austintown and were told Mahone "was highly intoxicated and head-butting and punching vehicles as well as trying to fight several people."
He threatened and struck an officer, and as he was being taken to the cruiser, Mahone is accused of continually yelling, "Take these cuffs off, and I'll kill all of you." His threats continued after he was taken to a local hospital.
Mahone was officially charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, assault on a police officer, intimidation of a public servant and vandalism of a government entity. The latter three charges are felonies.
Mahone has played in two games in his Notre Dame career, both last season. He was a second-team all-state selection in his senior season at Austintown Fitch High School.
