NFL Mock Draft, Version 9.0: Who’s rising, falling?

Is Johnny Manziel's favorite target at Texas A&M moving up teams' draft boards?

(Fox Sports Ohio’s Fred Greetham will do a mock draft each week up until the draft takes place on Thurs. May 8. We will take a stab at prognosticating the entire first round of picks. For a bonus feature, we will also list who the Browns might take in the second-round — 35th overall)

In the home stretch with just one week to go from today, there still will be changes, but here’s how we see it now. We feel there is a good possibility of a trade scenario up or down with the Browns, as Mike Pettine said the phone "has been ringing off the wall" and expects it to continue until the draft.

Wide receiver Sammy Watkins is still the pick for the Browns selection as he is the best available playmaker. We have quarterback Teddy Bridgewater once again with the second first-round pick. If they want quarterback Derek Carr, they might have to trade up to get him. We have the Browns adding a cornerback at the top of the second round.

This is our ninth installment of our 10-week Mock Draft with the final taking place on the first day of the draft.

1. TEXANS–Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina

2. RAMS– Greg Robinson, OT, Auburn

4. BROWNS–SAMMY WATKINS — We almost took Watkins off the board because GM Ray Farmer praised him way too much in his pre-draft briefing with the media. We’re sticking with the pick because if he is going to praise a player that much, he has to be the pick if he’s available, right? Pairing him up with Pro Bowl WR Josh Gordon and giving the Browns more offensive weapons for whomever is the QB just makes too much sense.

5. RAIDERS–Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A & M

6.FALCONS– Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A & M

7. BUCCANEERS– Mike Evans, WR, Texas A & M

8. VIKINGS– Blake Bortles, QB, UCF

24. BENGALS– Jason Verrett, CB, TCU

25. CHARGERS– Louis Nix, DT, Notre Dame

26. BROWNS– TEDDY BRIDGEWATER, QB, LOUISVILLE — Browns get a QB who was considered the top-rated prospect by many at the end of the college season. We feel Carr would be the preferred pick but have him being selected by the Cardinals.

35. BROWNS– KYLE FULLER, CB, VIRGINIA TECH — Browns able to address a glaring need with a starting-caliber cornerback.

Browns sleeper pick at 35 — CARLOS HYDE, RB, OHIO STATE
