Indians sign catcher Luke Carlin to minor league deal

CLEVELAND – The Indians have signed catcher Luke Carlin to a minor league contract with a non-roster invitation to major league spring training camp.

The 33-year-old comes back to the Indians organization after a stint in the Los Angeles Angels’ organization with the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees in 2013. Carlin spent time between AAA Columbus and Cleveland from 2010-12.

With the Bees, Carlin batted .230 with 8 doubles, 4 home runs and 29 RBI in 77 games.

Carlin has played 12 minor league seasons since 2002 and 56 big-league games in the past four seasons with the San Diego Padres, Arizona Diamondbacks, as well as the Indians.

He marks the Indians’ 21st non-roster invite to camp.
