Indians roster set

OAKLAND — The Indians have officially set their roster heading into Monday’s opener against the Athletics.

The team purchased the contracts of pitcher Scott Atchison, designated hitter Jason Giambi and outfielder Nyjer Morgan from Triple-A Columbus. With those moves, pitchers Preston Guilmet, Frank Herrmann and Colt Hynes have been designated for assignment.

Giambi and outfielder Michael Bourn were also placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 21. Giambi (rib fracture) was hit by a pitch on March 7 against the Cubs and Bourn suffered a left hamstring strain during a March 16 game against the Giants.

Outfielder Matt Carson and infielder Ryan Rohlinger were also reassigned to the minor-league camp.

This will be the Indians 25-man roster for tomorrow night:

Infield: 33 Nick Swisher, 22 Jason Kipnis, 13 Asdrubal Cabrera, 41 Carlos Santana, 4 Mike Aviles, 8 Lonnie Chisenhall, 30 Elliot Johnson

Outfield: 23 Michael Brantley, 6 Nyjer Morgan, 7 David Murphy, 9 Ryan Raburn

Catcher: 10 Yan Gomes
