Dozing at the drum: Late-night baseball catches up to John Adams
JUN 05, 2014 3:45p ET
Long-time Tribe drummer John Adams is an institution at Indians' games, pumping up the crowd with the steady beat of his drum.
Wednesday night -- or more like early Thursday morning -- even he could've used a cup of coffee, as Indians' fans stuck out a more than two-hour rain delay, then a four-hour and 29-minute ballgame.
The best part -- Adams still keeps on drumming away as he catches some shut-eye. Hey, after 40 years behind the drum, it may just be instinct for Adams inside the walls of Progressive Field.
Adams and the rest of the Tribe faithful who stayed downtown until 2 a.m. were rewarded when Asdrubal Cabrera sealed a series sweep of the Red Sox with a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 12th.
