The Blue Jackets have sent defenseman Nikita Nikitin to the Edmonton Oilers for a fifth-round pick in this year’s draft, the team announced Wednesday.

It’s a reacquisition of the pick the Jackets traded to Edmonton in exchange for defenseman Nick Schultz in March.

The 28-year-old Nikitin had two goals and 13 assists in 66 games with Columbus last season.

Nikitin had been with Columbus since Nov. 2011.

The NHL Draft begins Friday.
